Russia Remains the Top Source Country for Schengen Visa Applications also in 2018

Newly published Schengen Visa statistics for 2018 reveal that Russia remains the top source country for Schengen Visa applications, with the total number of applications received by the overall Schengen consulates surpassing 16 million.

Despite that the number of Schengen visa applications from Russia has almost halved since 2013, when there were as many as 6,995,141 applications submitted by Russian nationals, Russia still tops the table for Schengen visa demand.

In fact, 23% of the overall number of Schengen visa applications processed last year, were filed in Russia. 24.2% of those granted permitted the visa holder to enter the Schengen territory multiple times, within the validity of the visa.

Yet, statistics show that the number of applications from this country has been dropping every year, aside of 2017 when a slight increase was marked.
