Poland Extends Visas and Permits for Foreigners for Another 30 Days

The state of emergency in Poland due to Coronavirus has pushed the country to extend visas for all internationals who hold work permits, national visas, or a temporary residence permit, for 30 days after the end of the emergency state, Secretary of Management on Affairs of Foreigners Jakub Dudziak announced.

The deadline for other visa services will be also extended, SchengenVisaInfo.com reports.

Internationals will be eligible to file applications for the legalization of their stay, as well as to extend the validity of their work permits for seasonal workers.

Furthermore, the Office for Foreigners said that internationals in Poland can confirm the extending of their legal stay by the visa stamp on their passport or getting a new card permit.

“Based on this extended stay, a foreigner will not be able to travel on the territory of the other member states of the Schengen area. But, the alien will be able to further realize the purpose of their stay in Poland, for example, the execution of the work”,  the Management’s statement reads.

Also, the foreign citizens stranded in Poland will be able to leave the country, in cases of emergency, without any penalty applied in such a situation.

Internationals in the country will be eligible to extend their stay under the granting of a permit or visa-free regime, within 30 days after the state of emergency has been lifted, the Department reveals.

Only past wee, the government of Poland decided to extend its internal border controls, set to expire on March 24, until April 13.

2,347 persons have tested positive for the virus in Poland, so far, while 35 persons have died.

The increased number of coronavirus cases led the country to tighten border controls, prohibiting the free movement of its citizens, except for emergency cases, and setting new rules suggested by the health care system.

Under coronavirus circumstances, Poland decided to extend the validity of all permits as well as residency permits, for internationals, including, work permit, marriage license, permission for family reunification.

Amid COVID-19, Poland reintroduced its land, sea and air border controls with Germany, Lithuania Czech Republic, and  Slovakia, from March 15.
