France creates a special visa for entrepreneurs, engineers and investors
Just before the 2017 presidential election in France, its government announced a last thing about foster startups in France – the French Tech Visa – a new program for foreign tech talent that will make it easier for you and your family to get a four-year visa to France.
France’s Minister of State for Digital Affairs Axelle Lemaire teased some information about this new program on the TechCrunch stage at CES earlier this month:
This is a different thing from the 2015 French Tech Ticket – the package that contained a visa, a small grant and a little help regarding administrative tasks. However, the French Tech Visa goes further!
If you are a great designer, engineer, entrepreneur or a VC, but you are a foreigner that requires a French Visa, you can apply for a French Tech Visa and get a fast-track processing. Plus, your family is also eligible to apply.
So you will be able to benefit from both packages, the French Tech Ticket and the French Tech Visa. For entrepreneurs, there will be partnerships with accelerators and startup competitions that if you manage to participate in, you may get the visa, apart from the obtainable French Tech Ticket.
Other tech companies can apply for a “Passport Talent”, quite a new thing as well, which allows anyone with exceptional technical, scientific, or artistic abilities to get the visa.
Investors can get a visa if they work for a French VC firm, or an international VC firm and are expanding with a new office in the French territory.
This brings hope for decreasing countless troubles for a visa and the nerve-wracking wait for one!
